The Aurul Fight @ Project X Presents 2
quite a surreal moment whilst the aural fight went off at pxp 2. everyone seems to have frozen except mark reck who has started rotating at an insane speed.

Create Digital Motion » Panoramic Projections on the Cheap
searching for surround projections in the cdm archive i found this. wanted to do more of this sort of thing using the video matrix at the last project x presents, but didn’t have the time. i do have few things that tile nicely tho like scrolling arrow things and what not. i particularly like the central array of screens, breaking out of the ‘we have to put visuals over the stage’ mentality.
check out the urban art forms site too

EyeCon – Video Motion Sensing here is Frieder Weiss software for sale that helped in creating Chunky Move’s Glow (actually looking further into it, he may have used his unreleased, newer software, Kalypso). using ir cameras he can track movement even in the dark, and separates it from the projected light. puts out OSC which is nice too.
Beautiful live tracking & projection from chunky move at the kitchen www.thekitchen.org, lovely sound and movement too. will post more when i find out how they did it.
small documentary about the medium perfectly describes the same sort of learning curve we found ourselves. choreography of all the actors at every moment. and the camera itself. interesting that they don’t mention projecting it in 360′ though.
looking for info on the ivision realplayer plugin, that the bbc used wrongly on their article to try and portray written on the body in an immersive fashion, yielded little reults so far about any software that can encode in such a format, but threw up a few interesting uses of the medium.
amy talkington seems to have done some interesting bits with technology over the years, such as using pixelvision (really must get mine fixed) as well as an immersive film. this was 7 years ago…
I’ve been mucking about with panoramic photos again, and specifically trying to find out how the best way to put hotspots on the scenes, so you can click through to the next scene, via doors etc. so this article was useful as a comparison of stitcher and ptgui. it also seems to be quite a good intro to the medium as a whole, cos Pat St. Clair rambles in a very informative way, and seems to have been doing it from the start… he also has some great tips for clean habits to get into when starting out. it’s a fiddly business, and can take a long time to come up with unuseful material if you’re not careful.
ZKM – Panoramafestival – PanoScreen
a couple of separate people have sent me links to the panoscreen, and it looks like ZKM are in league with Icinema as well.
Icinema have some serious surround projection research going on, and some lovely facilities.
i love the simplicity of the design here. a xmas tree baubel used to do what high grade optics or precision mirror balls costing thousands might.
